About

Kate Barber - Bloom Counselling

Hello and welcome

As a Registered Counsellor, I bring experience and a personal, empathic approach to counselling to help you navigate the various emotions that you’re probably experiencing right now. I’ll help you work through these emotions within a safe and non-judgemental space, help you make sense of what is going on and work with you to find strategies to move forward.

I have been informally counselling and caring for people who are at their most vulnerable for over 25 years as a Registered Nurse, and now formally as a Counsellor. With my own personal experiences with family illness and the experiences of many others who I have helped throughout my career, I have gained an understanding of the complexities of the varied emotional, physical and mental challenges that we face in our daily lives, when we are faced with illness and our diverse individual responses. I have a special interest in helping people impacted by life limiting illnesses such as cancer and MND.

I use an Integrated Counselling approach – this means using a variety of techniques that are person-centred and individualised to you. These may include, but are not limited to, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour based approaches. I’ll work with you to help you identify your concerns, to find your inner resources and to support you in your decision making.

If I sound like I might be a good fit for you , please give me a call or head to my contact page.
